Sydney, Australia — After more than two decades working behind the scenes at the ABC on iconic programs such as Bananas in Pyjamas, 4 Corners, and Compass, former production manager Georgie Greene faced redundancy at 55. Rather than slowing down, she decided to completely reinvent herself — teaching herself photography, web design, SEO, marketing, and customer service from scratch.

Now, just five years later, Georgie is a successful professional photographer whose business ranks on the first page of Google for both headshot photography and dating photography in Sydney.

“When I left the ABC, I knew I wanted to do something creative, but I also wanted to make a difference,” says Georgie. “Photography gave me both. I get to help people show the best version of themselves — whether that’s for LinkedIn, their business, or finding love again.”

Her specialty? Helping people feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera — a skill she credits to both her years in television production and her life experience.

“Many of my clients are nervous at first — especially if it’s their first professional headshot or they’re re-entering the dating world. I love putting them at ease and seeing them light up. Confidence is incredibly photogenic.”

Georgie’s growing reputation has also led to a niche market in dating photography, where she currently ranks number two on Google in Sydney. Her approachable style and genuine interest in people have made her a trusted name among professionals and those ready to take a new step in life.

“I’ve had clients from 20 to 55 years booked in for dating portraits. It’s so rewarding to help them move forward and contribute to their major life changes. I want to show them as relaxed and confident which in turn make them approachable and connectable.”

Now at 60, Georgie says she’s only getting started.

“I can see myself being a photographer for many years to come. This isn’t just a job — it’s a second act that gives back.”
